Founder Bio
Ohenewaa Larbi Ahima, also known as O.H., is the founder and creative force behind Design by O.H., a quiet-luxury accessories brand rooted in intention, heritage, and global artistry. Born and raised in the cultural vibrancy of Kumasi, with a heritage from Abiriw Akuapem, she carries the spirit of Ghana’s artistry into every piece she creates. Her journey has since expanded across continents—shaped by life on the U.S. East Coast, personal evolution, and a deepening appreciation for meaningful, soulful design.
Drawing from globally sourced materials—including traditional Ghanaian beads, curated textiles, and artisan-crafted elements from around the world—Ohenewaa’s work reflects a nuanced blend of global influence and American craftsmanship. Her design philosophy is guided by the belief that luxury should honor your story, not overshadow it. Each accessory she creates is a celebration of personal identity, self-discovery, and the quiet confidence that comes with embracing who you’ve grown to be.
A lifelong lover of art, culture, and intentional living, Ohenewaa designs for women who seek beauty with meaning, elegance with depth, and luxury with a soul. Through Design by O.H., she invites her customers into an experience—one that honors heritage, elevates everyday moments, and celebrates the evolving woman.
About The Brand
Design by O.H. is a small, Black woman-owned business based in Maryland, U.S.A. We create high quality handmade bag charms that are unique, quirky yet sophisticated work of art for the trendsetting female looking for “quiet luxury” with meaning.
The bag charms are made using recycled glass beads from Ghana, also known as sand cast beads, and other interesting beads and crystals from around the world. As the beads from Ghana are made by hand, no two are the same, making every Design by O.H. bag charm one-of-a-kind. The pieces are an interplay between tradition, modernity, and sustainability with the raw beauty of sand cast beads mixed with crafted glass faceted beads and metal components to create jewelry for handbags, belt hooks, etc.
Each bag charm is uniquely named after a woman of the Akuapem people of Ghana, to give honor to Ohenewaa’s cultural roots. Owning one of these bag charms makes you the custodian of a piece of culture, history, and tradition.
Why have a boring handbag? Give your purse a WOW factor with a beautiful bag charm to match your personality, mood, outfit, the season…or to make a statement!
Vision, Mission, and Manifesto
Our Mission
Our mission is to create meaningful luxury accessories that honor personal stories,
celebrate evolving womanhood, and blend global materials with U.S. craftsmanship and Ghanaian heritage. Every piece is designed with intention, reflecting depth, identity, and the beauty of becoming.
Vision
Our vision is to redefine luxury as an experience of meaning, identity, and heritage — creating globally inspired, U.S.-crafted accessories that empower women to honor their stories, embrace their evolution, and express their one-of-a-kind elegance with intention and soul.
Design by O.H. — Brand Manifesto
We believe luxury is more than something you wear — it’s something you feel.
It is intention in every detail, heritage in every curve, and meaning woven through every moment.
We honor the places that shape us — from the artistry of Ghanaian beadwork to the global materials that carry stories of their own, to the hands in the U.S. that bring each piece to life. We design for women who have lived, loved, stretched, blossomed, and become more themselves with each passing year.
Women who seek beauty with depth, elegance with purpose, and luxury with a soul.
We believe every woman’s journey is a work of art. Every chapter deserves to be celebrated. Every story deserves to be honored.
We create accessories that reflect identity, ignite self-discovery, and whisper confidence to the woman who wears them.
This is not fast fashion.
This is intentional living.
This is heritage made modern.
This is quiet luxury — elevated by meaning.
At Design by O.H., we craft pieces to accompany you:
on your path,
in your growth,
and into the next version of who you are becoming.
Because luxury should never be loud.
It should be true.
It should be personal.
It should feel like home.
