Our Story

Ohenewaa, also known as O.H., is a mother of two teenage boys, wife, and a physician by training. O.H. was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa and relocated to the U.S. for college. She comes from a family of artists and studied art in secondary school. However, her medical training and career took her away from art until recently when she decided to return to her creative roots.

The name O.H. was bestowed on Ohenewaa herself when as a little child she found it challenging to spell her name, so she very cleverly cut it short. There was evidently a streak of quirkiness and originality in her from the very start of her life! Let’s not forget to mention the meaning of her name- Ohenewaa means Queen, a graceful woman of royalty.

Beads have always fascinated her since childhood when her maternal grandmother, Afua Okyerewaa, used to make waist beads for her. Beads from Ghana are handmade by an interesting process which makes each bead unique. O.H. loves interesting pieces of jewelry and beads from Ghana because they lend themselves to endless creativity. Her handbag charms are unusual art pieces made with intention and meaning, and a nod to her Akuapem heritage from the Eastern Region of Ghana and the strong women in her family.
